WARREN, Mich. – Macomb Softball's four-day, eight-game homestand began with a split Wednesday (April 12) against the visiting Ocelots of Schoolcraft College. The Monarchs took game one by a 4-1 final before errors doomed the Blue & White in the nightcap in a 4-0 setback. The split shifts the Monarchs record to 9-12 overall and 3-6 in the MCCAA East.
The Monarchs' busy slate continues tomorrow (April 13) with a home doubleheader opposite the St. Clair County Community College Skippers. First pitch is 3 p.m. with live stream coverage available on

On Wednesday,
Katelynn Fraser (Macomb, Mich./Eisenhower) got the game one start and held the Ocelots to one run over 6.1 innings pitched. Fraser showcased plenty of resiliency after getting out of a few early jams on her way to striking out five Ocelots and earning her second win of the campaign. Sophomore left-handed pitcher
Carly Sierzenga (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) came on for the final two outs in a 4-1 ball game and recorded her first save of the season (second of her career) after striking out a pair of Ocelots to close out the contest.
Offensively, the Monarchs were led by the "Thomas Tandem" of
Katelyn Thomas (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) and
Rylee Thomas (Harrison Twp., Mich./L'Anse Creuse). Both Monarchs went 2-for-3 in the opener and drove in a run each to account for all four of the team's hits and both RBIs.
In game two, the Monarchs struggled to get the offense rolling and were paced by
Elizabeth Townsend (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay) who went 2-for-3. R. Thomas and
Samantha Scott (Romeo, Mich./Eisenhower) followed with one hit each.
