TAYLOR, Mich. – Playing shorthanded, Macomb Softball went on the road to Taylor's Heritage Park to finish a suspended game from April 3 against the host Hawks of Henry Ford College. The Monarchs led 4-2 at the point of resumption Thursday (April 20) and remained ahead the entire way until the Hawks walked off the game in the seventh and final inning for the 6-5 win.
The setback sends the Monarchs to 14-16 overall and 8-10 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. The Monarchs end the day a half game ahead of the Hawks for the third and final spot in the upcoming NJCAA Region XII Tournament (played May 11-13 in Stevensville, MI).
Savanna Clark (St. Clair, Mich./St. Clair) and
Danielle Erickson (Sterling Heights, Mich./Sterling Heights) combined for four of the Monarchs' eight hits with base knocks each.
The Monarchs continue their stretch of seven games in four days with a road doubleheader against the Skippers of SC4 tomorrow (April 21). First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Marysville City Park. Friday's games against SC4 will be streamed live on ESPN+ (download the ESPN app or watch on
