Softball’s Incredible 2024 Season Comes to an End at the World Series

Thank you for the historic and memorable season, Monarchs!

DUNCAN, SC – Macomb Softball's historic 2024 season came to an end Tuesday (May 21) at the NJCAA Division II World Series with a 14-3 loss to defending national champion and No. 2 seed, Copiah-Lincoln Community College. After making it back to the World Series for the first time since 2015 and qualifying for only the seventh time in program history, the Monarchs 2024 campaign closes with an overall record of 31-15 and a Great Lakes District A Championship.

Despite another tough start, the Great Lakes District A Champion Monarchs refused to back down against the defending national champs and plated three runs in the fifth inning to extend the game. Trailing 10-0 and down to their final out, Katelyn Thomas (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) connected on a two-RBI triple to the right center gap that scored Kaycee Stang (Fraser, Mich./Fraser) and Savanna Clark (St. Clair, Mich./St. Clair). An errant Copiah-Lincoln throw to third brought Thomas all the way around to score as the Monarchs tallied three runs on the play to extend the contest into the sixth inning trailing 10-3.

The nation's second ranked team had an answer from there and scored four in the top of the sixth to close the game out in six innings by the 14-3 final score.

Stang led the Monarchs with two hits while Clark, Thomas and Sydney Urban (Warren, Mich./Regina) had one each.

THANK YOU, MONARCHS!
To the sophomores, thank you for everything you have poured into the program over the past two years. You led the resurgence, and we can't thank you enough. To the freshmen, thank you for a great season.

We'll be back.
