ALLEN PARK – Macomb Softball split on the road Saturday (May 3) and secured their latest postseason berth in the process after losing game one, 12-11, and winning game two in convincing fashion, 14-1, in five innings. The split sends the Monarchs to the NJCAA Great Lakes District A Tournament as the East No. 4 seed.
The fourth-seeded Monarchs will take on the No. 2 seed out the MCCAA West, Lake Michigan College, on Thursday (May 8) at Marysville City Park at 12 p.m. The opener will be a matchup between 2024's Great Lakes District Champions as Macomb won District A while the Red Hawks took home the District B crown.
GAME ONE: Henry Ford 12, Macomb 11
Despite racking up 11 runs on 18 hits, the Monarchs fell by a narrow 12-11 margin in Saturday's opener to the Hawks.
Raegan Hemelberg and
Madalyn Roberson each hit a home run and a double with equal 3-for-4 efforts as the pair combined for five RBIs.
Kailey Viviano hit her 13
th home run of the campaign to finish the day two behind the single-season home run record of 15.

Sydney Urban all had two hits in the opener to follow Hemelberg and Roberson who had had three hits each.
GAME TWO: Macomb 14, Henry Ford 1 (5 inn.)
Raegan Hemelberg,
Paige Muehlbrandt and
Madalyn Roberson all homered while Hemelberg continued her red-hot day with a pair of doubles in the emphatic game two win. Roberson drove in a game-high four runs while hitting her ninth home run of the campaign and Hemelberg drove home three on a pair of doubles and her fifth long ball of 2025.
Alexa Yaklin brought three runs in to score and Roberson shut down the Hawks to the tune of a five-inning two-hitter in the circle.
