KENOSHA, Wis. – After winning their third straight MCCAA Eastern Conference title last week, the No. 7 Macomb women's cross country team returned to the course Saturday (Oct. 10) and competed in the Lucian Rosa Invitational in Kenosha, Wis. The event was hosted by NCAA Division II perennial power, University of Wisconsin-Parkside, at the famed Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course—last year's NCAA DII National Championship course and multiple-time host of the NCAA DIII National Championship.
The Monarchs finished 14th as a team on the challenging, rolling hills course as part of a loaded field of four-year schools from the NCAA DII, DIII, and NAIA ranks. Saturday's race in Wisconsin also marked the first and only 6K of the season for the Monarchs.
Ava Johnson ran a great race and led the way in 89th place individually with a 6K time of 25:05.1. McKenna Richard crossed the line in 97th place with a time of 25:10.5 one week after leading the Monarchs to the program's third conference crown in as many seasons.
Mercy Brown raced her way to a time of 25:36.0 for a 113th place finish, while Emma Miller was 130th with a time of 26:02.5. Laila Evola capped off the scoring for the Monarchs in 139th place, running 26:35.1.
