FINDLAY, Ohio – Following a tough opener, Macomb Softball bounced back to post a 10-1 run-rule victory in the elimination bracket to stay alive in Great Lakes District A and live to play another day. With the win, the Monarchs will take on Glen Oaks Community College in an elimination game on Friday (May 8) at 10:30 a.m. from Marathon Diamonds in Findlay, Ohio.
GAME ONE: Muskegon 5, Macomb 0
The Monarchs couldn't get the offense rolling as the Jayhawks posted a 5-0 win in the opener.
Ariana Wlodeck pitched a strong game but run support never arrived in the shutout setback.
GAME TWO: Macomb 10, Kalamazoo Valley 1 (5 Inn.)
Kailey Viviano walked it off in five innings for the Monarchs with their second home run of the contest as the Monarchs defeated Kalamazoo Valley by a 10-1 margin. Viviano finished 4-for-4 with a pair of long balls, while
Aubrey Rich also notched a 4-for-4 day with a home run and a double. Rich drove in four runs while Viviano brough home three in the high-octane outing.
Alexa Garofalo doubled as part of a strong game while Wlodeck tossed a gem to pick up win No. 13 of the season.
