Michael Stanley joined the Macomb basketball staff as an assistant coach in the summer of 2025. He brings 20 years of experience at the college, AAU, and prep school levels.Â
He was most recently the head coach at the Florida Sports Academy in Apopka, Florida, a post grad institution. While at FSA, he led the team to three Post Grad National Tournament appearances and a Final Four berth in 2022. Coach Stanley also developed 10 players who went on to play at the NCAA Division I and Division II levels.Â
Prior to FSA, he was the head coach of Elevation Prep in Fort Wayne, Indiana for one season. He was also an assistant coach at Spire Academy in Ohio from 2018-2020,Â
Stanley's roots in Michigan include a stop as an assistant coach at Michigan-Dearborn from 2016-2018. While with the Wolverines, Stanley helped the team to a WHAC Conference Tournament Championship in 2018, along with an NAIA National Tournament appearance. With Stanley on staff, four players received WHAC All-Conference selections, and had a 95% graduation rate.Â
During the 2015-2016 season, Stanley was the head coach at NJCAA DI member Western Iowa Tech Community College. He led the team to a 20-win season in its first season of varsity basketball, and maintained a 90% placement rate for players completing their eligibility.Â
Stanley earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Huron University, while earning a graduate certificate in global sports management from New York University. Â
