FLINT, Mich. – After winning the first set in incredible fashion, Macomb Volleyball couldn't hold on as the host Bears of Mott Community College took over from there to win Thursday's (Oct. 7) conference tilt by a 3-1 final tally. The Monarchs – now 9-9 overall and 3-2 in the MCCAA East – won the thrilling first set by a 32-30 final but couldn't capitalize off the early lead in the four-set defeat (32-30, 18-25, 19-25 and 17-25).

While the Monarchs did not get the season sweep over Mott (10-8, 5-1 MCCAA East), their win over Mott in September helped secure a regular season split with the Bears for only the third time in the past 10 seasons.

Khloee Stoll (Macomb, Mich./Anchor Bay) continued to impress in her first collegiate season by posting 40 digs. After Thursday's performance, Stoll now has 479 digs on the season for a 7.73 digs per set average. The eye-popping numbers place Stoll atop the MCCAA Eastern Conference in digs and digs per set and second nationally in NJCAA Division II in digs per set.

Stoll was followed defensively by Juliana Bollini (Washington, Mich./Romeo) who recorded 26 digs, while Kara Lewicki (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North) was balanced once again with 11 digs and a team-best 12 kills. Ja'Nae Davis (Grand Rapids, Mich./Godwin Heights) and Natalie Husson (Marysville, Mich./Marysville) contributed eight kills each with Husson adding two solo blocks and a pair of block assists in the four-set defeat.

The Monarchs will look to get back to their winning ways when they host Alpena Community College for a pair of matches Saturday (Oct. 9) beginning at 1:00 p.m. Macomb Athletics will provide live video stream for both matches starting at 12:45 p.m. on www.MacombMonarchs.com/Watch.
