BY THE NUMBERS: 18
After missing all of last season due to an injury suffered in the preseason, sophomore guard Cameron McEvans returned to the active lineup in 2022-23 and has wasted no time making his presence known. On Sunday (Dec. 11), McEvans recorded a career-high 18 points and added five rebounds and four assists to lead No. 9 Macomb to victory.

BY THE NUMBERS: 90
The ninth-ranked Monarchs reached the 90 point mark for the fifth time this season when they topped Monroe Community College by a 90-65 final on Sunday at the Niagara County's T-Wolves Holiday Classic. The Monarchs are a perfect 5-0 when tallying 90 or more points and have eclipsed 100 points three times this season (high: 123).

MONARCH REWIND
Playing last week shorthanded without the services of leading scorer, Tamario Adley, the Monarchs went 1-1 at the Niagara County T-Wolves Holiday Classic with a narrow loss to host and undefeated No. 2 Niagara County (62-54) and a runaway victory over Monroe (90-65). The 1-1 week pushed the Monarchs record to 10-3 on the season.

STAT LEADERS
Tamario Adley remains the Monarchs leading scorer at 12.6 points per game and is followed closely in double digits by Juwan Maxey (11.1 PPG) and Aidan Rubio (10.7 PPG). Tymias Williams and Jaylen Daughtery lead a balanced effort on the glass with 5.8 and 5.7 rebounds per game, respectively, while Linden Holder's 4.3 assists per contest leads a Macomb team that averages 21.3 assists per game.

SHE'S A BEAUTY, THAT NUMBER 9
After a 1-1 week that resulted in a hard-fought setback to the current No. 2 team in the country and a 25-point neutral-site win, the Monarchs remained at No. 9 in the latest NJCAA Division II Rankings. The Monarchs are 10-3 on the season and their three losses have come to a pair of NJCAA D1 Top-10 teams and the second ranked NJCAA D2 team.

RUBIO BRINGS BALANCE IN NY
Aidan Rubio was everywhere for the Monarchs at the T-Wolves Holiday Classic! The freshman wing averaged 16 points, five rebounds and four assists to go along with nearly three blocks and two steals per game over the weekend in Sanborn, NY.

CAN THEY REMAIN PERFECT?
The Monarchs enter the week 7-0 against Region XII opponents. As part of the 7-0 mark, the Monarchs are 4-0 against the MCCAA Western Conference and will have an opportunity to remain perfect against the west and improve to 8-0 in region play this weekend when they host a tough KVCC team that is receiving votes in the national rankings.

A LOOK AT: RV KALAMAZOO VALLEY
The KVCC Cougars will come to Warren 8-1 overall and winners of seven straight. On Wednesday, the Cougars sank No. 16 Mott at the buzzer, 69-67, on a night where returning All-Region guard Myles Johnson led the team with 28 points. The streaking Cougars sit just outside the top 20 nationally (receiving votes) and boast two ranked wins, one over 16th ranked Mott and one over then No. 4 Milwaukee Area Tech.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP
The Cougars average 82.8 points per game and are led by two prolific scorers in Myles Johnson (20.9 PPG) and Tavaz Showers (19.3 PPG). The Monarchs will counter the potent Cougars lineup with the No. 1 scoring defense in all of NJCAA Division II as the Blue & White enter the weekend matchup allowing a stingy 58.6 PPG allowed.
