BY THE NUMBERS: 5
Macomb Men's Basketball shifted up one spot to No. 5 in this week's NJCAA Division II Rankings. After beginning the season at No. 7, the Monarchs have floated between No. 5 and No. 12 while going 12-3 in non-conference play with their only three losses coming to a pair of NJCAA Division I top-10 teams and the current No. 3 in NJCAA Division II.

BY THE NUMBERS: 60
The Monarchs enter the week with the top scoring defense in NJCAA Division II. Through 15 games, the Monarchs have allowed a stingy 59.7 points per game and are the only team across the NJCAA Division II ranks to hold the opposition to under 60 points per contest. The Monarchs also hold opponents to 35.8% shooting (#1 in NJCAA Division II).

LET THE (MCCAA) GAMES BEGIN
From the hunter to hunted! The defending MCCAA Eastern Conference and MCCAA Champion Monarchs begin conference play this weekend when the Ocelots of Schoolcraft College visit the Sports & Expo Center for a 3 p.m. tip-off Saturday (Jan. 14). The men's game will follow the 1 p.m. women's contest. Admission is $5.00 cash.

STAT LEADERS
Tamario Adley checks in with a team-leading 12.5 points per game on an impressive 58% shooting clip and is followed closely in the scoring column by Juwan Maxey and Aidan Rubio at 11.1 PPG and 10.5 PPG, respectively. Jaylen Daughtery and Tymias Williams pace the effort on the glass with 5.9 rebounds each, while Linden Holder's 4.1 assists per contest leads a Macomb team that averages 20.7 assists per game.

MCCAA EAST IN THE TOP-20
The MCCAA East was well represented (and deservedly so) in this week's NJCAA Division II Rankings. The Monarchs led all MCCAA members at No. 5 nationally, while Henry Ford (6th) and St. Clair County (7th) followed in the Top-10. Mott shifted back into the rankings at No. 20 to make it four teams in the eight-team MCCAA East in the Top-20 poll.

MONARCH REWIND
The Monarchs picked up a big win their last time out when they topped No. 3 South Suburban by a 71-66 final on Dec. 30. Tamario Adley led the way with 16 points and Aidan Rubio earned MCCAA East Player of the Week honors after posting 14 points and eight rebounds.

A LOOK AT: SCHOOLCRAFT
The Schoolcraft College Ocelots enter the week with a 2-9 mark through their 11 non-conference tilts. Ross Stofflet paces four in double figures at 15.3 points per game for an Ocelots team that averages 75.1 per contest. The Monarchs swept the Ocelots last season while averaging 106.5 points in the two meetings and winning by an average of 40 points.

THIS WEEK IN MONARCH HISTORY
We're takin' it back to last season in this edition of "This Week in Monarch History". Last year, the Monarchs cruised to a 114-63 victory over the visiting Lumberjacks of Alpena Community College on Jan. 12 to move to 12-1 overall. Former Monarch and current Florida Memorial guard Tariq Humes poured in a program record 55 points on 20-of-28 shooting and a 10-of-16 clip from downtown in the 51-point win.

THE MONTH AHEAD
After their game Saturday opposite Schoolcraft, the Monarchs will face the three other conference teams in the Top-20 in consecutive fashion when they host No. 6 Henry Ford Jan. 18 before traveling to play No. 20 Mott (Jan. 21) and No. 7 St. Clair County (Jan. 25). The difficult January slate comes to a close at home Jan. 28 against Oakland CC.
