Macomb Men's Basketball went 2-0 at home last week to improve to 4-1 overall on the season behind a pair of dominating performances. The Monarchs were strong in every facet of the game, including a stingy defense that held both opponents under
50 points as the Blue & White defeated Delta, 107-41, before topping CBG Prep, 109-48.
BY THE NUMBERS: 63
Macomb had the size advantage in both games last week and it showed on the glass as the Monarchs out-rebounded the opposition by a total of 118-54 over the two-game stretch. The Monarchs opened the week with their best performance on the boards all season, out-rebounding Delta by a staggering
63-23 margin in the 66-point win.
TRIPLE-DOUBLE
Juwan Maxey was simply in the zone in Friday's (Nov. 17) 109-48 win over CBG Prep. One of only six active players against CBG, Maxey was dialed in from start-to-finish on the way to his first collegiate triple-double with an incredible 16 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists. The 15 rebounds and 12 assists were both new career highs for Maxey.
DAY LEADS THE WAY
Sophomore forward
Parker Day has enjoyed an incredible start to his time donning Macomb Blue & White jersey. Last week, Day posted 16 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in the Delta victory and followed that up with a career-best 27 points to accompany seven rebounds and two assists in the win over CBG Prep. Through five games, Day leads the Monarchs in points (16.8) and rebounds (8.8) per contest.
A LOOK AT: OWENS
The Owens Community College Express enter the week with an even 2-2 record and are currently riding a two-game winning streak. The Express will play back-to-back games this week with home tilts against Delta on Monday and against Macomb Tuesday evening. Breon Hicks leads the Express offensively at 13 points per game.
SERIES HISTORY VS OWENS
Macomb and Owens have met on the hardwood five times over the past ten seasons with the Monarchs earning a narrow 3-2 edge in the series after winning the last three meetings. The Monarchs and Express have not met since Dec. 2019 (82-73 Macomb win).
BALANCED SCORING COLUMN
Balanced scoring has been a strength for the Monarchs through five games this season as seven players are averaging 10+ points per game (PPG):

Parker Day leads five Monarchs averaging five or more rebounds per game (RPG) at 8.8 per contest.
Tate MacKenzie follows at 8.0 RPG, while
Tymias Williams checks in at 7.2 RPG.
Juwan Maxey (6.6 RPG) and
Josh Hines (5.3 RPG) round out the top five.
EXTENDED TIME AWAY
With last week's home games in the rear view mirror, the Monarchs now enter a stretch of 10 consecutive road games and will not return to the friendly confines of the Sports & Expo Center until Jan. 20. During their 10-game road trip, the Monarchs will play a challenging schedule that features three games against ranked opponents.
