PORT HURON, Mich. – Macomb Volleyball saw their 2023 season come to a close Friday (Nov. 3) in the NJCAA Great Lakes District A Tournament in Port Huron. The Monarchs rebounded from a loss to open the tournament by defeating Southwestern Michigan College Friday morning in three sets but later lost to tournament host SC4 in three to close out the season.
In Friday's first match against the Roadrunners of Southwestern Michigan, freshman outside hitter and Second Team All-Conference honoree,
Adeline Tresnak (Dryden, Mich./Dryden), paced the Monarchs with a match-high 18 kills. Tresnak recorded another double-double with a team-leading 13 digs and was joined in double-digit kills by All-MCCAA and First Team All-Conference performer,
Chante Hudgins (Warren, Mich./Lincoln), who posted 14 kills and added a match-best six blocks.
Becca Weiss (Dryden, Mich./Dryden) served up four aces and added 11 digs, while
Lexi Pogasic (Washington Twp., Mich./Romeo) followed with 10 digs. First Team All-Conference selection
Paige Elliott (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Country Day) recorded 43 assists to round out the leaders from the match against the Roadrunners.
In the match against SC4, Weiss led the way with 18 digs while Tresnak followed with eight digs and seven kills. Honorable Mention All-Conference selection
Mallory Cardinale (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) tallied four kills and
Grace Amoe (Harrison Twp., Mich./L'Anse Creuse) checked in with three to bring her daily total up to 12 kills. Amoe also tied Hudgins for the team lead in blocks against SC4 with three and Elliott set up the offense with 14 assists.
