BY THE NUMBERS: 97
The Monarchs went 2-0 in Western New York over the weekend behind a pair of
97 point efforts. On Saturday, the Monarchs cruised past Jamestown by a
97-65 final tally. Then on Sunday, the Monarchs led by as many as 22 points in a
97-83 victory over perennial power Niagara County. The pair of wins lifted the Monarchs to 7-1 on the season.

Following the wins in New York, the Monarchs, now
7-1 on the season, shifted up one spot to No.
7 in the latest NJCAA Division II Rankings. The Monarchs will take their record and ranking on the road once again this weekend when they visit Centreville, Mich., for a showdown with the 8-2 Vikings of Glen Oaks Community College.
LOOKING BACK AT NEW YORK
News and Notes from the New York trip:
Juwan Maxey (20 pts),
Kyle Millender (19 pts) and
Jotham Nweke (18 pts) combined for 57 points in the Monarchs' 97-65 win over Jamestown. The following day,
Tymias Williams led the charge in the 97-83 victory over Niagara County with a career-high 23 points and Millender followed with 14.
LEADING SCORERS
Through eight games,
Juwan Maxey paces six in double figures at 16.4 points per game (PPG).
Tymias Williams is next at 14.5 PPG, while
Parker Day and
Kyle Millender follow at 14.3 PPG and 14.0 PPG, respectively.
Josh Hines checks in at 12.0 PPG and
Justin James averages 10.5. Three other Monarchs are just shy of netting double digits per contest:
Marlon Williams (9.3),
Tate MacKenzie (8.3) and
Jotham Nweke (7.9).
ATTACKING THE GLASS
Entering the week, the Monarchs average 50.9 rebounds per game (RPG), a number that is tied for fourth nationally in NJCAA Division II.
Parker Day leads the effort on the glass at 8.0 RPG and
Tate MacKenzie hauls in 7.1 RPG.
Juwan Maxey leads all guards at 7.0 RPG and
Tymias Williams checks in with an equal 7.0 boards per contest.
Josh Hines (5.8),
DaMaryon Fishburn (4.4),
Marlon Williams (4.3) and
Kyle Millender (4.0) all check in at or above four rebounds per game.
HEADING WEST
The Monarchs will take their No. 7 ranking and 7-1 record to the west side of the state for a Saturday (Dec. 9) matinee with MCCAA West member, Glen Oaks Community College. Tip-off for the non-conference tilt is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Centreville, Mich.
A LOOK AT: GLEN OAKS
The Vikings are currently 8-2 on the season and own a perfect 3-0 mark when playing on their home court. Daivion Boleware leads an experienced Vikings team at 18.8 PPG and is followed in double figures by Jaiquan Edwards (16.0), Lavonta Ash (10.3) and Jaylen Coon (10.1). The Vikings average 81.1 PPG and hold opponents to 72.5 PPG.
A FEW SEASON STAT RANKINGS
At 7-1 overall and ranked seventh in the country, the Monarchs rank near the top nationally in several key statistical categories. Offensively, the Monarchs rank third nationally in field goal percentage (53.0) and fifth in points per game (98.0). Defensively, the Monarchs are No. 1 in the country in opponents field goal percentage (33.1). On the glass, the Monarchs are tied for fourth in rebounds per game (50.9).
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
On Tuesday, sophomore forward
Tymias Williams was named the MCCAA Eastern Conference Player of the Week. The former Dakota standout earned the weekly honor after pouring in a career-best 23 points to go along with seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals in the Monarchs' 97-83 victory over Niagara County Sunday afternoon.
