PORT HURON, Mich. – The 2022-23 edition of Macomb Women's Basketball came to a close Tuesday (March 7) with a 54-45 setback to St. Clair County Community College in the Great Lakes District C Quarterfinals. The Monarchs battled tough throughout and trailed by one point after three quarters of play before the host Skippers pulled away in the fourth to earn the nine-point victory.
The loss ends the Monarchs season at 17-10 overall. With the win, the Skippers move on to the semifinals at Mott CC on Thursday.
SC4 won the battle on the boards, 48-30, including a 20-14 edge in offensive rebounds. The differential on the glass led to SC4 outscoring the Monarchs 15-5 in second chance points and 20-14 in points in the paint.
Kamryn Richards (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) led the Monarchs with 13 points and
Jaelynn Jones (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) followed with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting to go along with five rebounds.
Rayonna Armstrong (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) chipped in with nine points, while
Valina Hudgins (Warren, Mich./Lincoln) recorded seven points and a team-high seven rebounds.
