BY THE NUMBERS: 12
While the season has not gone in the Monarchs favor, the bats have showcased power with a total of
12 home runs through 24 games. The
12 home runs is good for sixth in the entire MCCAA (18 teams) and second in the MCCAA East. The home run tally is already five better than the Monarchs produced through 46 games last season.
BY THE NUMBERS: 8
Through six games last week, redshirt freshman designated hitter/outfielder
Reese Rinna posted a .500 average on a team-high
eight (8) hits. The former Richmond High School standout hit a home run at Jackson, his third of the season, and drove in a total of three runs in six games while amassing a .688 slugging and .556 on-base percentage.
MONARCH REWIND
After going 1-1 against Concordia University Ann Arbor's split squad behind a shutout performance by
Ryan VanSlambrouck, the Monarchs returned to conference play against the MCCAA East leading Jets of Jackson College. The Jets swept the weekend series, winning all four games despite a valiant effort by the Monarchs in Thursday's nightcap.
A LOOK AHEAD
In a late change that barely snuck into this week's game notes, first-year head coach
Taylor Grzelakowski announced the addition of a non-conference doubleheader at Alma College JV on Tuesday (April 11). First pitch for the doubleheader will be 2 p.m. at Klenk Park (6565 N. Smith Rd., Alma). The Monarchs return to league play Thursday and Saturday against Schoolcraft.
BLOMME IS BLOOMING
A rash of injuries allowed new players to enter the lineup and one of the Monarchs who is taking full advantage of the increased playing time is freshman outfielder,
Jack Blomme. The former Oxford High School standout is hitting .326 with a .543 slugging percentage—both averages rank second on the team behind
Reese Rinna (.439/.854).

10 EXTRA-BASE HITS

Ben Dillabough and
Reese Rinna joined the home run party with one each, while
Adam Amodei connected on a team-high tying two doubles.
Josh Medrano and
Nick Stokan each hit a double with Medrano just barely missing out on a home run twice last week.
UPCOMING SERIES: SCHOOLCRAFT
The Monarchs wrap up their five-game conference series with the Schoolcraft Ocelots later this week. On Thursday, the Monarchs will visit The Corner Ballpark in Detroit for a doubleheader at 2 p.m. On Saturday, the Monarchs host the Ocelots for the series-ending doubleheader at 1 p.m. The Ocelots are in a three-way tie for second in the conference at 4-3 (12-15 overall).
COMMITMENT TRACKER
While its been a tough go as of late amid a whirlwind of injuries, the total number of Monarchs on the current roster who have committed to a four-year next year is up to six (four NCAA D2, two NAIA). Last year, the Monarchs sent one to a four-year school (H. Ryan, Concordia). The latest four-year commit is
Adam Amodei (NCAA D2 - Alderson Broaddus)!
