JACKSON, Mich. – Macomb Volleyball hit the road for Jackson to take on the Jets in their lone MCCAA Eastern Conference match of the week on Wednesday (Sept. 27). Despite getting a combined 21 kills out of
Chante Hudgins (Warren, Mich./Lincoln) and
Adeline Tresnak (Dryden, Mich./Dryden), the Monarchs couldn't string together enough points to take a set from the host Jets and fell by a 3-0 final tally (19-25, 21-25, 22-25).
The loss drops the Monarchs to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. The Jets improved to 2-3 in league play and 5-4 overall with the three-set win.
Tresnak led the Monarchs with 11 kills and was followed closely by Hudgins with 10 kills and
Mallory Cardinale (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) who checked in with seven kills of her own. Tresnak also added a team-best five aces and tied
Nikole Nikolova (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II) for the team lead in digs with 11.
Paige Elliott (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Country Day) followed with nine digs and assisted on 31 of the team's 34 kills on the evening.
Grace Amoe (Harrison Twp., Mich./L'Anse Creuse) paced the Monarchs in blocks with three, while Hudgins had two and Tresnak added one.
With Wednesday's setback behind them, the Monarchs now set their sights on a tough slate ahead at this weekend's Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) Raider Challenge. On Saturday, the Monarchs will take on Muskegon Community College at 12 p.m. and later will play the host and 11
th ranked GRCC Raiders at 4 p.m. On Sunday, the Monarchs square off with preseason No. 8 McHenry County College at 12 p.m. before ending the weekend with a 4 p.m. tilt against Kellogg Community College.
