Macomb Men's Basketball remains at No.
6 in the country in the latest NJCAA DII Poll. The Monarchs, 11-2 on the season, remained sixth nationally after most recently defeating Muskegon, 107-47, and No. 19 Kalamazoo Valley, 86-50. The Monarchs two losses have come on the road to No. 4 South Suburban and No. 5 Ellsworth (current rankings).

At 11-2 overall and after holding both opponents to 50 points or less in two wins over the weekend, the Monarchs enter the week with the No.
1 field goal percentage defense in the country at 34.5%. In addition, the Monarchs have held the opposition to 25.7% shooting from 3-point land, an average that ranks fourth nationally in NJCAA DII.
LET THE (LEAGUE) GAMES BEGIN!
MCCAA Eastern Conference play tips off Saturday (Jan. 13) on the road at Schoolcraft! Saturday's conference opener begins a 14-game league slate as the Monarchs play two rounds of games against their seven MCCAA East counterparts (one home & one away). The first conference home game is Jan. 20 at 3 p.m. against No. 13 Mott.
BALANCED SCORING
Juwan Maxey leads six in double figures at 15.8 points per game (PPG).
Tymias Williams is next at 14.0 PPG, while
Parker Day and
Josh Hines follow at 12.9 PPG and 12.0 PPG, respectively. The balanced scoring continues with the following scoring averages:

NATIONAL LEADERBOARD
At the time of this release, the Monarchs rank eighth nationally in scoring at 96.1 PPG, fourth in assists at 22.7 per game and check in third in field goal percentage at 52.3%. On the defensive end, the Monarchs are first nationally in field goal percentage defense at 34.5%. The Monarchs' 48.9 rebounds per game ranks fourth nationally.
BIG DAY FOR BIG TATE
Freshman center
Tate MacKenzie continued his ascension with an impressive performance in an 86-50 win over KVCC on Saturday (Jan. 6). The 6-10 center recorded the game's lone double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds in 24 minutes of action.
A LOOK AT: SCHOOLCRAFT
The Ocelots of Schoolcraft College enter conference play with an 8-6 record on the season after most recently defeating Community Christian by a 93-82 final on Wednesday (Jan. 10). The Ocelots enter Saturday's conference opener on a six-game winning streak that includes an impressive 94-77 home victory over Cuyahoga on Dec. 20.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore guard and former Renaissance High School standout,
Juwan Maxey, earned his first career MCCAA Eastern Conference Player of the Week honor after leading the sixth-ranked Monarchs to a pair of wins over the weekend. Maxey shot 55% from the floor overall and knocked down 60% of his attempts from 3-point territory on his way to averaging 16.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
KEEP CRASHING THE GLASS
Through 13 games this season, the Monarchs are a perfect 11-0 when out-rebounding their opponent and are 0-2 when out-rebounded by the opposition.
Parker Day leads four Monarchs averaging six or more rebounds per game at 7.2 per contest, followed by
Tate MacKenzie (6.9),
Tymias Williams (6.8) and
Juwan Maxey (6.2).
