Following back-to-back wins over ranked competition, Macomb Men's Basketball moved up two spots to No.
3 nationally in the latest NJCAA Division II Poll. The No.
3 spot is the highest known ranking for the program since the 1987-88 season when the Monarchs were No. 1 in the country under the guidance of legendary head coach John Switchulis.
BY THE NUMBERS: 39
The new No. 3 team in the country enjoyed a great week on the hardwood with a 93-81 win at No. 14 Henry Ford and a 113-74 home victory over No. 17 Mott. The
39-point win over the Bears marked the largest recorded margin of victory against Mott (dating back to the 2012-13 season when game-by-game records were kept).
HOME SWEET HOME!
After playing a game in front of their home crowd for the first time in over two months, the third-ranked Monarchs will remain in Warren for a pair of conference contests this week! On Wednesday (Jan. 24), the Monarchs will host No. 17 St. Clair County Community College (SC4) at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Monarchs welcome the Oakland CC Raiders to Warren for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
TEAM BASKETBALL
Juwan Maxey leads five in double figures at 16.0 points per game (PPG).
Parker Day and
Tymias Williams are next at 13.6 PPG and 13.5 PPG, respectively, while
Nate Brown (12.2) and
Josh Hines (12.0) follow closely. The balance continues with the following averages:

Kyle Millender (8.6),
Tate MacKenzie (8.5),
Justin James (8.4),
Marlon Williams (6.8) and
DaMaryon Fishburn (4.4).
NATIONAL LEADERBOARD
At the time of this release, the Monarchs rank second nationally in scoring at 96.4 PPG, second in field goal percentage at 53.0% and fourth in assists at 22.3 per game. On the defensive end, the Monarchs are second nationally in field goal percentage defense at 35.5%. The Monarchs' 48.6 rebounds per game ranks fourth nationally.
STARTING STRONG
The Monarchs earned wins over No. 14 Henry Ford and No. 17 Mott behind great first half efforts that resulted in big leads at the break in both games. The Monarchs led by 13 at the half at Henry Ford and 15 at the break over Mott.
A LOOK AT: #17 SC4
The No. 17 SC4 Skippers enter the week tied atop the MCCAA Eastern Conference standings with the Monarchs at 3-0 in league play (14-3 overall) and will head to Warren on Wednesday riding a six-game winning streak. Tyler Hamilton leads a potent Skippers offense at 18.3 PPG and is joined in double figures by Isaiah Jones (15.5), Zaveon Little (13.7) and Daquan Coleman (12.6).
A LOOK AT: OCC
The Raiders of Oakland Community College, led by Antoine "The Judge" Joubert, check in with a 4-12 record overall and a 1-2 mark in MCCAA Eastern Conference action after dropping games to SC4 and Henry Ford last week. The Raiders conference win came in the league opener over Jackson. Karlos Berry paces the Raiders offensively with an average of 17.5 PPG and is followed by Jyiresse Yothers at 11.1 PPG.
STAT-STUFFING WEEK
Tymias Williams was all over the court in the road win at Henry Ford, finishing with a 20-point, 12-rebound double-double, while
Parker Day tied for the team lead with 20 points and
Juwan Maxey added 18 of his own. In the Mott win,
Josh Hines led six in double figures with 17 points while
Tate MacKenzie recorded a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double.
