Following a 1-1 week on the hardwood, Macomb Men's Basketball shifted down three spots to No.
6 in the latest NJCAA Division II Rankings. The sixth-ranked Monarchs visit Wayne County on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and will return to Warren on Saturday to host Jackson at 3 p.m. The Monarchs are 15-3 overall and 4-1 in the MCCAA East.
BY THE NUMBERS: 100
The Monarchs controlled the contest on their way to defeating the visiting Raiders of Oakland Community College (OCC) on Saturday by a
100-71 final score. The
100-point performance marked the seventh time this season the Monarchs have scored
100 or more points. The Monarchs' season-high for points scored in a game is 113 (113-74 win vs. Mott).
THE BATTLE ON THE GLASS
The season-long story continued to ring true last week as the Monarchs went 1-1, dropping a game to then No. 17 SC4 when losing the rebounding battle and later defeating OCC by 29 points when winning the battle on the glass. Through 18 games this season, the Monarchs are a perfect 15-0 when outrebounding their opponent and conversely are 0-3 when they are outrebounded by the opposition.
CONTINUED BALANCED
Juwan Maxey leads five in double figures at 15.4 points per game (PPG), followed by
Tymias Williams who nets 14.1 PPG.
Parker Day and
Nate Brown are next at 13.2 and 12.8 PPG, respectively, while
Josh Hines checks in at 11.8 PPG. The balance continues with the following averages:
Jotham Nweke (8.8),
Tate MacKenzie (8.5),
Kyle Millender (8.1),
Justin James (7.9),
Marlon Williams (6.4) and
DaMaryon Fishburn (4.4).
RANKED HIGH IN KEY STATS
At the time of this release, the Monarchs rank second in the nation in field goal percentage at 52.5%, third in assists per game at 22.0 and are fourth nationally in scoring at 95.6 points per game. On the defensive end, the Monarchs are third nationally in field goal percentage defense at 36.2%. The Monarchs' 47.9 rebounds per game ranks fourth nationally.
THE RACE TO 80
The Monarchs boast a perfect 15-0 record when scoring 80 or more points this season and have surpassed 90 on 13 occasions. The Monarchs have three losses on the season, all coming with totals just shy of 80 points (77, 79 & 79).
A LOOK AT: WAYNE COUNTY
The Wayne County Community College District Wildcats enter this week's action at 8-9 overall and 0-5 in the ultra-competitive MCCAA Eastern Conference. The Wildcats average 73.9 points per game and surrender a near equal 73.5 per contest to opposing teams. Derek Bolton leads a cast of five Wildcats averaging seven or more points per game at 11.9 PPG.
A LOOK AT: JACKSON
The Jets of Jackson College check in with an overall record of 9-10 and are 1-4 in MCCAA East action after most recently falling at Henry Ford on Monday evening. As a team, the Jets entered the week averaging 76.1 points per game and give up 74.3 to the opposition. Antonio King leads a balanced Jets offense at 16.1 PPG and is followed by Xavier Ford-Belton (12.8), Brayden Pearson (12.6) and Savonn Campbell (12.1).

Tymias Williams leads three Monarchs averaging seven or rebounds per game (RPG) at 7.6 per contest, followed by
Parker Day and
Tate MacKenzie at 7.1 RPG each.
Justin James has dished out a team-best 65 assists (3.6 APG) and is followed by T. Williams and
Juwan Maxey with 55 each. Maxey has drained a team-leading 55 3-pointers this season.
