An Amazing Year! Volleyball’s 2024 Season Ends in Great Lakes District B Tournament

The incredible 2024 season came to a close on day two of the Great Lakes District B Tournament.

PORT HURON – What a year! Macomb Volleyball's 2024 season ended Friday (Nov. 8) on day two of the NJCAA Division II Great Lakes District B Championship with a four-set loss to Muskegon Community College. The loss, coming in the elimination of District B play, ended the Monarchs' season at 14-18 overall.
 
Prior to the Muskegon loss, the Monarchs defeated Jackson College in five sets to stave off elimination.
 
In the Jackson win, the Monarchs were paced by Kara Beeker (Warren, Mich./Warren Woods Tower) who slammed down a career-high 17 kills and Sophia Kulaga (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon) with a career-best eight aces. Jordan Pflaum (Shelby Twp., Mich./Lutheran High North) followed Beeker in the kills department with 14 and Hadley Schaefer (Harrison Twp., Mich./Parkway Christian) added 11. Paige Elliott (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Country Day) assisted on 47 of the team's 55 kills while Alexis Cunha (Richmond, Mich./Anchor Bay) anchored the defense with 19 digs.
 
In the season-ending match against Muskegon, Pflaum led three Monarchs in double-digit kills with 15, followed by Kaley Eller (Utica, Mich./Utica) with 12 and Schaefer with 11. Elliott racked up 39 more assists to close out her illustrious Macomb career and paced the Monarchs' defense with 18 digs.
