WARREN – Josh Hines (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) accounted for a game-high 29 points to lead No. 4 Macomb Men's Basketball to a 98-47 home win over Canada's Fanshawe College on Sunday (Dec. 29). The win was the 10
th of the season for the fourth-ranked Monarchs and propelled the Blue & White to a 10-1 record ahead of next weekend's SC4 Holiday Classic where a pair of Top 15 opponents await.
On Friday (Jan. 3), No. 4 Macomb will face off with No. 13 South Suburban College at 4 p.m. at the SC4 Fieldhouse. On Saturday, the fourth-ranked Monarchs will face a familiar foe in No. 10 and red-hot Kalamazoo Valley Community College at 1 p.m.
As for Sunday's non-conference tilt to close out the 2024 portion of the slate, the Monarchs led 51-25 at the break on their way to cruising to the 51-point home victory. The Monarchs used a 17-2 edge in fast break points and a decisive 57-23 advantage in points off turnovers to earn the win.
Hines led the Monarch attack with 29 points on an ultra-efficient 11-of-14 effort and added a balanced eight assists, five rebounds and four steals for his latest impressive game this season. The redshirt sophomore guard ended the day averaging over 24 points per game, a mark good for a top 10 spot in the NJCAA.
DaMaryon Fishburn (Detroit, Mich./Trillium Academy) followed with 13 points, five rebounds and two steals, while
Caron Williams (Mount Clemens, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) poured in a game-high four triples for 12 points to accompany five rebounds and five assists.
Jotham Nweke (Oak Park, Mich./Loyola) checked in with 11 points and nine rebounds and
Davion Guity (Bronx, NY/LA Premier Prep) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points on a trio of 3-pointers made.
Jalen Jenkins (Belleville, Mich./Belleville) dished out a career-best nine assists and tallied an equal nine points, while
Lajuan Holloway (Detroit, Mich./Oak Park) snagged 10 boards to go along with seven points and
Malachi Irving (Warren, Mich./Fitzgerald) posted seven points and seven rebounds in the decisive win.
