BY THE NUMBERS: 2
Yeah, it's confirmed. Reese Rinna likes to play at The Corner Ballpark! Through six career games at the famed corner of Michigan & Trumbull, Rinna is hitting for an impressive .368 average as part of a performance that includes two (2) home runs, two (2) doubles and seven RBI. Rinna is hitting .375 this season with two (2) home runs and 11 RBI.

BY THE NUMBERS: 6
The Monarchs improved to 2-0 in conference play with a 7-3 home win over Jackson on Tuesday (March 19) and a 5-4 road victory over Schoolcraft on Thursday. Ryan Sieler got the start against Jackson and the win after striking out six (6) across five innings of work while only surrendering two hits against a potent Jets offense.

THE ADJUSTED LOOK AHEAD
Mother Nature could always play a factor, but here's a look at the schedule this week. The Monarchs are home for the first two games of the week as they host Mott on Tuesday before Henry Ford comes to town on Thursday afternoon. Both 9-inning games feature a 2 p.m. first pitch. The Monarchs wrap up the week at Sanborn Park in Port Huron for a 9-inning tilt against SC4 at 1 p.m.

POWER NUMBERS
Brady Krzciok paces the Monarch bats (min. 75% games played) with a .417 average to go along with team-leading numbers in home runs (4), doubles (5), walks (9), RBI (12), runs (14), SLG% (.889) and OBP (.523). Dylan Pawenski follows at .389 with 10 RBI via four doubles, two home runs and a .667 SLG%, while Reese Rinna checks in with 11 RBI off of two doubles and two home runs to accompany a .375 BA and .625 SLG%.

STRONG PERFORMANCES
While Ryan Sieler's performance on the hill against Jackson highlighted the week, Oliver Barkal continued his strong start to 2024 with six strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in Macomb's win over Schoolcraft. Barkal didn't get the decision but he set the tone for the day as Cooper Batzold got the win after 2 2/3 of one-hit ball and Jack Saputo earned the save after a shutout ninth.

FAST STARTS LEAD TO W'S
The Monarchs moved to 2-0 in MCCAA Eastern Conference play thanks to fast starts offensively against Jackson and Schoolcraft. In the 7-3 win over Jackson, the Monarchs scored four in the second inning and eventually led 7-0 before the Jets scored a few late. In the 5-4 Schoolcraft win, the Monarchs used four first inning runs to help earn the victory.

A LOOK AT: MOTT
The Mott Community College Bears check in with a 7-7 record overall and 1-1 mark in the MCCAA East after most recently defeating Schoolcraft, 17-5. The Bears boast a skilled lineup that is led by four players with 12 or more RBI: Gavin Balius (17), Quinn Schultz (14), Charles Chmielewski (13) and Conner Egert (12). William Case leads the Bears' starting pitchers with two wins through four starts.

A LOOK AT: HENRY FORD
The Hawks of Henry Ford College entered the week tied atop the (very early) MCCAA Eastern Conference standings with Macomb at 2-0 but lost a hard-fought battle with Jackson on Monday evening in Detroit to move to 7-7 overall and 2-1 in league play. Anthony Akins leads a balanced Hawks attack with 12 RBI on two home runs (seven extra-base hits in total), while Jake Peer paces the pitching staff with a 1.00 ERA and 0.83 WHIP.

A LOOK AT: SC4
The St. Clair County Community College Skippers are led by first-year head coach Richard Robinson and are off to a 3-9 start overall (0-2 MCCAA East). The Skippers host the Monarchs on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sanborn Park in Port Huron, their third and final conference game scheduled this week. Porter Kays' .387 BA and .513 OBP leads the Skippers.
