WARREN, Mich. – Sophomore first baseman
Brady Krzciok (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston/Madonna) once again proved why he is a future NCAA Division I player on Tuesday (March 26) as he posted a five-hit game, including an 11
th inning walk-off RBI single, to lift Macomb Baseball to a 5-4 extra-innings win over the visiting Bears of Mott community College.
The walk-off win lifted the Monarchs to 3-0 in league play (7-8 overall) ahead of Thursday's showdown in Warren with Henry Ford. First pitch for Thursday's 9-inning conference tilt is set for 2 p.m.
On a gusty day that may have kept at least two balls inside the park, Krzciok led the Monarchs' offensive charge by going 5-for-6 at the plate with a double and three RBIs, while
Derek Ruiz (Port Huron, Mich./Port Huron Northern/Madonna) followed with a 3-for-4 performance and three runs scored, including the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11
th off of Krzciok's RBI single through the right side of the infield.
Ryan Sieler (Monroe, Mich./Monroe) got the start worked five innings on the hill while striking out nine and only giving up one earned run on four hits.
Dominic Miller (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) came on in the ninth inning and held the Bears to two hits and struck out three to earn his first win at the collegiate level.
Not enjoying their best day offensively, the Monarchs battled back to erase three separate Mott leads to earn the walk-off win. Krzciok either drove in the game-tying or game-winning run or was on base for every tie or lead change in favor of the Monarchs Tuesday afternoon.
