WARREN, Mich. – Macomb Softball shook off an 11-1 game one defeat to bounce back and win game two by an 8-2 final to split Saturday's (April 27) action with the Bears of Mott Community College. The Saturday split shifts the Monarchs record to 21-13 overall and 17-7 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. With six games to play next week, the Monarchs will look to secure what NJCAA Great Lakes District they will compete in as early as Tuesday when they visit Marysville City Park, the site of the district tournaments, to take on St. Clair County Community College.
After a slow start to the day in a five inning game one setback, the Monarchs bounced back with a vengeance in game two to earn an 8-2 win.
Zoe Hunt (Warren, Mich./Regina) provided the early pop with a two-run home run that tucked around the left field foul pole and
Allison Vogt (Chesterfield, Mich./Anchor Bay) was in cruise control in the circle en route to her eighth win of the campaign.
Hunt's two-run shot—her second long ball of the season—turned a 1-1 tie into a 3-1 Monarch lead and would stand as the game-winning hit in the 8-2 victory. Vogt only allowed one earned run in seven innings of work and struck out a pair of Bears to move to 5-0 across her last five decisions.
Ally Prasnjak (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) joined in on the game two fun with a 2-for-4 effort that included a double, while
Sydney Urban (Warren, Mich./Regina) matched Prasnjak at 2-for-4 and added an RBI.
Carleigh Bilpo (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II),
Haley Mitchell (Memphis, Mich./Memphis),
Kaycee Stang (Fraser, Mich./Fraser) and
Katelyn Thomas (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) all recorded a hit while Bilpo and Mitchell knocked in a run each.
