WATERFORD TWP., Mich. – The offense was rolling on Friday (April 5) as Macomb Softball earned a split at Oakland Community College by winning game one, 9-1, via run rule before dropping a hard fought second game by an 11-8 final. The Monarchs scored 17 runs on 29 hits in the doubleheader with the Raiders and saw their record shift to 11-8 overall and 7-2 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference with the split.
GAME ONE: Macomb 9, OCC 1 (5 Inn.)
The Monarchs posted an eight-run second inning to earn the win the opener as
Ally Prasnjak (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) hit her fourth home run of the season and
Katelyn Thomas (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) went 3-for-3 with three doubles to pace a high-octane effort. Prasnjak,
Haley Mitchell (Memphis, Mich./Memphis) and
Kaycee Stang (Fraser, Mich./Fraser) recorded two RBIs each in the run rule win. Stang and
Sydney Urban (Warren, Mich./Regina) had a double each to join Thomas' two-bagger trifecta.
Carleigh Bilpo (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II) rounded out the game one offensive leaders with a 2-for-2 effort at the plate.
Grace Dzikowski (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) earned her sixth win of the season in the circle after scattering three hits and striking out five.
GAME TWO: OCC 11, Macomb 8
The Monarchs' bats stayed hot in game two, posting eight runs on 17 hits, but errors and walks would doom the Blue & White in the 11-8 setback. Prasnjak went 2-for-2 with a double in Friday's latter contest and was intentionally walked twice and drew a separate walk as part of a well-rounded day at the plate.
Zoe Hunt (Warren, Mich./Regina) and Thomas hit a double each as the pair led the team in hits with three each. Hunt paced the team in RBIs with three.
