Dzikowski Records Rare No-Hitter, Hunt and Urban Help Power Softball to a Split With Schoolcraft

Dzikowski’s no-hitter was the 15th in Macomb Softball history and first since 2017!

WARREN, Mich. – No-Hitter! Grace Dzikowski (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) was in complete control in game one on her way to recording the 15th no-hitter in Macomb Softball history to help lift the Monarchs to an 8-0 run rule win over Schoolcraft College on Saturday (April 6). The six-inning no-hitter was the first for the program since 2017. The momentum couldn't carry over to game two as the visiting Ocelots won the latter contest, 15-6, as the team's split Saturday's action.

The Saturday split shifted the Monarchs' record to 12-9 overall and 8-3 in the MCCAA East ahead of Wednesday's home doubleheader with Henry Ford.

The Monarchs earned the six-inning win in the opener behind Dzikowski's lights out, no-hitter, while Zoe Hunt (Warren, Mich./Regina) and Sydney Urban (Warren, Mich./Regina) provided the pop at the plate. Urban hit a pair of home runs and Hunt walked off the Ocelots with a two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth for her first career home run at the collegiate level.

With two more home runs Saturday, Urban now has a team-best six long balls on the season. Ally Prasnjak (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) connected on her fifth home run of the season in game two as the tandem account for 11 of the team's 17 home runs on the season.

As for game one, Urban's pair of fence-clearing blasts lifted the freshman to a team-high four RBIs as part of a 3-for-3 performance. Katelyn Thomas (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) carried over her red-hot play from Friday with a 3-for-3 opener that included a double and Carleigh Bilpo (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II) drove in a run while going 2-for-3. Brynn Beyer (Chesterfield, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) went 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI to round out the game one leaders.

Dzikowski struck out four, induced six groundouts and eight flyouts, and was one walk away from notching a perfect game.

Prasnjak and Thomas led the Monarchs' effort in game two with two hits each.

The Monarchs are back in action at home on Wednesday (April 10) against Henry Ford. The conference doubleheader will begin at 3 p.m. with live play-by-play coverage available on MacombMonarchs.com/Watch.
