The memorable 2024 season for Macomb Baseball came to a close on Friday (May 10) with a pair of one run defeats at Jackson College. The Monarchs led 7-4 with six outs to go in game one before the Jets came back to win it, 8-7, in the ninth. Game two saw the Monarchs lose two separate one run leads in a narrow 3-2 setback.

Despite the losses, the Monarchs made history as the first team to win a MCCAA Conference Championship since 1995. The return to the playoffs in 2024 marked the first time the program was in the postseason since 2018.

Dylan Pawenski (Shelby Twp., Mich./Utica/Madonna) went 3-for-5 with two doubles in game one while
Brady Krzciok (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston/Madonna) and
Ty Stepek (Commerce Twp., Mich./Walled Lake Northern/GVSU) had two hits each. Krzciok doubled and Stepek hit a triple to round out the game one leaders offensively. The combination of
Ryan Sieler (Monroe, Mich./Monroe) and
Brandon Rice (Macomb, Mich./Eisenhower/Madonna) held the Jets to three earned runs over a combined eight innings of work.

Game two saw the Monarchs plate two runs on seven hits as
Ryan McKay (Macomb, Mich./Chippewa Valley) led the team with two base hits and
Alex Mendes (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) tripled in his final game in the Macomb Blue & White. The pitching tandem of
Hector Jaimes (Trenton, Mich./Western International/Wayne State) and
Oliver Barkal (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier/Niagara) struck out nine batters with Barkal fanning five across his final three innings of work.
