WARREN, Mich. – Macomb Softball maintained its red-hot pace with a doubleheader sweep over the Henry Ford College Hawks on Thursday (May 2) in Warren. The visitor on the scoreboard for the afternoon, the Monarchs fended off the Hawks in game one to earn a 3-1 win before run-ruling the nightcap by a 10-1 final in five innings.
With the wins, the Monarchs improved to 25-13 overall and 21-7 in MCCAA Eastern Conference play. The 25 wins ties for the most in
Jim Beard's eight seasons at the helm while the 21 MCCAA East victories ties the program record for conference wins in a single season.
GAME ONE: Macomb 3, Henry Ford 1
Allison Vogt (Chesterfield, Mich./Anchor Bay) dazzled in the circle on her way fanning a season-high-tying 10 batters to pick up her 10
th win of the season. With Vogt in control, the Monarch bats did just enough to hold off the Hawks as
Brynn Beyer (Chesterfield, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) and
Ally Prasnjak (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) both went 4-for-4 in the opener.
Prasnjak led the power department with a pair of triples as part of her 4-for-4 game one performance.
Katelyn Thomas (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) drove in two of the team's three runs in the opener, the second coming in the fifth inning when the sophomore hit a sacrifice fly to score Prasnjak for the game-winning run. Prasnjak would drive home the insurance run in the sixth to help give the Monarchs the 3-1 victory.
GAME TWO: Macomb 10, Henry Ford 1 (5 Inn.)

Katelyn Thomas' two-RBI game one was just a warmup! Thomas was on fire in game two, hitting two home runs and recording six RBIs in total to lead the Monarchs to a 10-1 run rule triumph. Thomas went 3-for-4 and hit home runs No. 5 and 6 on the year in the impressive performance, while
Savanna Clark (St. Clair, Mich./St. Clair) tied Thomas for the team lead in hits with three.
Ally Prasnjak drove in two more runs in game two as part of a 1-for-3 nightcap with two runs scored and
Haley Mitchell (Memphis, Mich./Memphis) brought the other two runs in on a two-RBI single to left center.
Katelynn Fraser (Washington Twp., Mich./Eisenhower) earned her fifth win of the campaign after scattering three hits across five innings of work while only surrendering one run.
SOPHOMORE DAY: Friday (May 3)
The Monarchs are back on their field in Warren tomorrow (May 3) for a Sophomore Day doubleheader against Henry Ford beginning at 3 p.m. The Sophomore Day ceremony will take place following the conclusion of game two.
