ROCKFORD, Ill. – Macomb Volleyball's skid hit four matches on Sunday (Aug. 25) after a pair of setbacks to conclude Opening Weekend Tournament (OWT) play in Rockford, Ill. The team's record on the young season sits at 1-5 through six matches.
LINCOLN LAND 3, MACOMB 0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-17)
The stretch against top Division II competition continued in Sunday's opener with a match against an unbeaten Lincoln Land squad. The Loggers were able to keep their early season record unblemished with a three set win over the Monarchs by set scores of 25-17, 25-11 and 25-17.
Adeline Tresnak (Dryden, Mich./Dryden) led the Monarchs in kills with six, followed by
Jordan Pflaum (Shelby Twp., Mich./Lutheran High North) who connected on five kills with no errors in nine attempts for a .556 hitting percentage.
Paige Elliott (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Country Day) paced the team in assists with 12 and had a team-leading two aces.
ROCHESTER COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE 3, MACOMB 0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-15)
The Monarchs' skid hit four matches as unforced errors continued to be the theme in the Blue & White's OWT finale against Rochester Community and Technical College. The three-set setback dropped the Monarchs record at the conclusion of OWT play to 1-5.
Hadley Schaefer (Harrison Twp., Mich./Parkway Christian) led the attack with seven kills and was followed by
Grace Amoe (Harrison Twp., Mich./L'Anse Creuse) who had five kills with no errors. Amoe also had three blocks and an ace in the OWT finale.
Paige Elliott anchored the defensive effort with 14 digs and added nine assists.
UP NEXT
The Monarchs return to action Wednesday (Aug. 28) with a nearby non-conference matchup at Rochester Christian University. The match against the Warriors' reserves is scheduled for a 7 p.m. first serve in Rochester Hills.
