DOWAGIAC – Macomb Volleyball's two-match win streak came to an end in non-conference action Wednesday (Sept. 25) at Southwestern Michigan College. The Monarchs (5-12) won the opening set, but the host Roadrunners rallied to win the next three and notch their 14
th win of the season in the process.
The opening set score went in favor of the Monarchs, 25-21, before the Roadrunners rattled off wins of 25-15, 25-17 and 25-11.
Paige Elliott (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Country Day) continued to be a game changer Wednesday with an impressive stat line of 30 assists, 19 digs and a pair of aces.
Kara Beeker (Warren, Mich./Warren Woods Tower) led the attack with 12 kills and was followed by
Jordan Pflaum (Shelby Twp., Mich./Lutheran High North) with nine,
Hadley Schaefer (Harrison Twp., Mich./Parkway Christian) with six and
Grace Amoe (Harrison Twp., Mich./L'Anse Creuse) with five.
Amoe went error-free on 16 total attempts to record a team-best .313 hitting percentage.
Kaley Eller (Utica, Mich./Utica) paced the team defensively at the net with three block assists while Pflaum followed with two of her own. Amoe recorded the team's lone solo block and added a block assist in the four-set setback.
The Monarchs' brief road trip to the west side wraps up tomorrow (Sept. 26) with a non-conference contest at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. First serve in Kalamazoo is set for 6:30 p.m.
