Preview: More Ranked Competition Ahead for No. 11 Monarchs

The 11th ranked Monarchs face a pair of high octane offenses this week when they visit Lansing Community College on Wednesday (Dec. 3) and Mid Michigan College on Saturday.

WARREN, Mich. – After going 2-0 over the weekend at the Montcalm Community College Shootout, the No. 11 Macomb Men's Basketball team is back in action with a pair of tests in the week ahead. The 11th ranked Monarchs will travel to Lansing Community College, a team that was previously receiving votes in the NJCAA Division II poll, on Wednesday (Dec. 3). The week closes out with a rematch of last year's MCCAA Semifinal and Great Lakes District C Championship at No. 25 Mid Michigan College on Saturday.

Tip-off for Wednesday's game is set for 7:30 p.m. following the women's contest at Lansing's Gannon Gymnasium. Saturday's game, also a doubleheader with the women's game preceding the action, will begin at 3 p.m. at Morey Courts Recreation Center in Mount Pleasant.

SCOUTING LANSING: Lansing is off to a 7-1 start, most recently suffering their first loss of the year to Mid Michigan last week. Wednesday's game against No. 11 Macomb marks the middle of a three-game home stretch against ranked competition for the Stars as No. 14 Milwaukee Area Tech visits on Friday.

The Stars are led by returning NJCAA All-American Zander Woodruff. One of the nation's most prolific scorers, Woodruff is averaging 24.5 points per game and has picked up where he left off last season where he also earned All-Region, All-MCCAA and MCCAA Western Conference Freshman of the Year honors.

As a team, the Stars are averaging 97.3 points per game while holding opponents to 76.4 points per contest. DeAire Lee, another key returning piece for head coach Mike Ingram, is the Stars' leading rebounder with 5.1 per contest.

SCOUTING MID MICHIGAN: Mid Michigan is 6-3 on the season and looking to win back-to-back MCCAA Northern Conference titles in 2025-26. Freshman Zack Parks has led the Lakers with 18.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.

As a freshman last season, Greene earned All-Region, All-MCCAA, First Team All-Northern Conference and Northern Conference All-Freshman Team honors. He was also named MCCAA Northern Conference Freshman of the Year.

Vynce Overshown, one of the best 3-pointer shooters in the MCCAA, also returns for the Lakers this season. Overshown is averaging 12.3 points per game head coach Kaleb House and the Lakers this season.
