MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – Playing shorthanded down three starters, Macomb Women's Basketball battled but fell, 76-53, at Mid Michigan College on Saturday (Dec. 6). The loss dropped Macomb's record to 5-3 on the season.

A back-and-forth game early, the Lakers held a 17-15 lead through one quarter of play before the Monarchs outscored the hosts, 16-12, in the second frame to take a 31-29 lead at the halftime break.

Third quarter action saw the teams exchange baskets once again with the Lakers emerging with a 52-46 advantage with 10 minutes remaining.

In the fourth, the shorthanded Monarchs couldn't keep pace as the Lakers' depth started to show in the 23-point setback. 

A'Liyah Forris led the Monarchs with a game-high 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds in a full 40 minutes of action. MyKenzi Harris added 10 points and seven rebounds in 36 minutes of action.

Hannah Tamou registered eight points, while Ruby Sandison posted six points and career-high eight rebounds. 

As a team, the Monarchs shot 17-of-58 from the field and 17-of-25 from the free throw line.

The Monarchs are back in action Friday (Dec. 12) with a road trip to Southwestern Michigan College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. from the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse in Dowagiac.
