GAME ONE: Mott 4, Macomb 2 (9 Inn.)
The Monarchs held a 2-0 lead after two innings thanks to a two-run home run by
Madalyn Roberson that traveled well over the wall in left center. Roberson's big blast was her first home run at the collegiate level.
Runs were hard to come by after that as the Bears eventually tied the opener in the sixth inning of the scheduled seven inning tilt. The game remained tied until the ninth inning when the Bears connected on a two-RBI single to result in the 4-2 final tally.
Alexa Garofalo and
Riley McLaughlin led the Monarchs by going 2-for-4 each, while
Raegan Hemelberg doubled to join Roberson in the extra-base hit category.
Roberson was the game one starter and went on to toss all nine innings while only surrendering two earned runs.
GAME TWO: Mott 12, Macomb 1
Kailey Viviano went 3-for-3 in the nightcap and drove in the Monarchs' lone run of the contest in a 12-1 defeat.
Riley McLaughlin and
Alexa Garofalo rolled over their strong efforts from game one by going 2-for-3 and 2-for-4, respectively, in game two.
Grace Dzikowski got the start and struck out six in just over five innings of work.
