WARREN – Following nine straight wins and a 23-run explosion on Wednesday, the recent Monarch magic ran out on Saturday (March 22) as the visiting Henry Ford Hawks cruised to a 14-3 win in eight innings. The loss snapped the Monarchs' lengthy win streak and shifted the team's record to 11-7 overall and 2-1 in the MCCAA East.
Vincent Cowdrey led the way at the plate for the Monarchs as the sophomore catcher/outfielder hit his 10
th home run of the campaign with a two-run shot in the fifth inning. With 10 home runs on the season, Cowdrey is only two shy of tying Macomb's single season mark of 12 home runs set by
Brady Krzciok in 2024 and Anthony Hines in 2006.
Nicholas Sandiha Jr. produced the most hits for the Monarchs on the afternoon, going 3-for-4 with a double, while
Ryan McKay drove in a run via a RBI single in the sixth.
The Monarchs return to action Tuesday (March 25) for a non-conference doubleheader at Owens Community College in Perrysburg, Ohio.
