Softball Swept on the Road at OCC

The Monarchs will enter the final week of the season in a heated battle for playoff positioning.

WATERFORD TWP. – Saturday was unkind to the Monarchs as the host OCC Owls swept the day with an 8-6 game one win and a 10-2 victory in game two. With the losses, the Monarchs shift to 13-21 overall and 10-14 in MCCAA East play.

Kailey Viviano hit her 11th home run of the season in game one while Paige Muehlbrandt and Aubrey Rich each hit a double as part of 2-for-4 efforts. Madalyn Roberson also went 2-for-4 as the trio combined for six of the team's eight hits in the opener. Viviano's home run and a Riley McLaughlin single accounted for the other two hits.

Savanna Smith homered in game two, her second of the season, to account for both Monarch runs.

The Monarchs finish the regular season with back-to-back-to-back road doubleheaders Friday through Sunday as they search for a spot in postseason play.
