MARYSVILLE – Macomb Softball rebounded from a tough opener to defeat the host Skippers of St. Clair County Community College (SC4) by a 10-1 final in five innings in game two on Friday (May 2). The Monarchs lost the opener, 9-3, to split the day and see their record shift to 14-22 overall and 11-15 in MCCAA East play with four games remaining in the regular season.
The Monarchs can officially clinch a postseason spot with a win or a SC4 loss on Saturday. The Monarchs take on Henry Ford at Allen Park High School for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, while SC4 visits first place Mott.
GAME ONE: SC4 9, Macomb 3
Riley McLaughlin led the Monarchs with a 2-for-3 effort, while
Raegan Hemelberg and
Kailey Viviano each cleared the fence on early home runs. Viviano's home run was her team-leading 12
th of the season—three shy of tying the single-season program record of 15 set by Jessie Thueme in 2012.
Hemelberg's blast was her third of the campaign.
Allison Wineski doubled to finish 1-for-3 to round out the game one leaders.
GAME TWO: Macomb 10, SC4 1 (5 inn.)
Madalyn Roberson was in control in the circle and went on to record the win after holding SC4 to one unearned run and five hits in five innings of work. The win was Roberson's seventh of the season.
Roberson helped herself out by hitting her seventh home run of the season, while
Paige Muehlbrandt connected on home run No. 7 of 2025, and
Aubrey Rich hit her second.

Alexa Yaklin all had two hits each as part of a 12-hit effort for the Monarchs.
Hemelberg, Muehlbrandt and Rich drove in two runs each in the game two win.
