Baseball’s Memorable 2025 Season Ends in Championship Round of Region XII Tournament

The Monarchs finished the season with a 35-17 record and secured shares of back-to-back conference titles for the first time since 1994 and 1995.

JACKSON – The championship round of the Region XII Tournament was unkind to Macomb Baseball as the Monarchs lost the opener to No. 9 Lansing, 12-2, before dropping their elimination contest to No. 21 Cuyahoga, 7-4. The pair of losses ended the 2025 season with a record of 35-17 – the most wins since 2012 when the Joe Santilli led Monarchs posted a 37-17 record.

The 35 wins also marked the second-most victories in the past 30 years as the 2012 team notched 37 and the 1994 team, led by Len Perkins, tallied a 39-11 record.

On a day where things didn't go the Monarchs' way, Nathan Fidelino led the way with a 4-for-8 afternoon, while Vincent Cowdrey went 3-for-7 with a triple and Luke Babcock and Adrian Epps had two hits each. Babcock recorded a pair of doubles on the day and Buster Debol hit a pinch-hit home run late in game two.

Jack Saputo capped off one of the best seasons on the mound in the entire NJCAA with 2.1 innings of one-hit ball with three strikeouts. On the season, Saputo didn't allow an extra-base hit and struck out 41 while only walking four in 28.1 innings pitched. The sophomore right-handed pitcher held the opposition to a .124 batting average and recorded a staggering .53 WHIP and 0.32 ERA.

Vincent Cowdrey finished with 14 home runs, a single-season program record, while Adrian Epps tied the single-season stolen base record with 41.

As a team, the 51 home runs set a new program record and the 145 stolen bases also set a new single-season program mark.

Thank you, Monarchs, for a great year!
