LANSING, Mich. – Macomb Women's Basketball saw its comeback bid fall short in a 75-66 loss to Cuyahoga Community College on Saturday (Oct. 31) at the Stars Liftoff Classic on the campus of Lansing Community College.

The Monarchs (0-2) trailed by 18 late in the third quarter, but battled back to get within four with 6:47 remaining in the game. The Triceratops responded from there, closing the game out with an 11-4 run for the 75-66 decision.

After a strong debut yesterday against the host Stars, Zaena Thacker put on a dominant display against the Triceratops, recording a 25-point, 18-rebound double-double to lead all players in scoring and on the glass. Claire O'Brien also registered an impressive double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

MyKenzi Harris posted 10 points, six assists and five rebounds, while Natalie Shulters chipped in eight points and three steals, and Morgan McPherson recorded seven points in her debut for the Navy and White.

Behind Thacker's dominant effort on the glass, the Monarchs out-rebounded the Triceratops, 44-34, but were unable to convert offensively in the nine-point setback.

The Triceratops' win marked their first victory over the Monarchs in the all-time series. The Monarchs had won the previous three meetings over their NJCAA Region 12 counterpart from Ohio.

The Monarchs open their home slate at the newly renovated Den on Friday (Nov. 6) in Warren. The Monarchs will take on Southwestern Michigan College with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m. and free live stream coverage available on MacombMonarchs.com/Watch.
