Offense Stays Hot As Macomb Defeats Schoolcraft, 16-2

The Monarchs complete a suspended game with a run-rule victory over the Ocelots.

NORTHVILLE, Mich. – Macomb Softball wrapped up their season series with Schoolcraft College on Thursday (April 30) as they completed a suspended road game with a 16-2 five-inning, run-rule victory over the Ocelots in Northville. The win salvaged a split with Schoolcraft as the Monarchs scored a combined 34 runs across the two games of the doubleheader.

With Thursday's win, the Monarchs enter the final weekend of the regular season 17-19 overall and 13-13 in MCCAA Eastern Conference action. The Monarchs magic number currently sits at two as a sweep secures the No. 3 seed out of the MCCAA Eastern Conference for next week's Great Lakes District Championship in Findlay, Ohio.

Ryleigh Davis had a big game offensively as she went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple with four RBIs. Alexa Yaklin went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored while Zoe Hunt was 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of triples. Aubrey Rich drove in two on a double and came around to score three times to round out the offensive leaders.

Madalyn Roberson earned the win in the circle after striking out five across five innings of two-hit ball. The sophomore right-handed pitcher held the Ocelots to two hits for one of her best outings of the season.

The remaining four games of the regular season will be held in Warren with Macomb hosting Henry Ford in a doubleheader on Friday (May 1) beginning at 1 p.m. Sophomore Day is slated for Saturday opposite Mott and also features a 1 p.m. first pitch.
