The Den on Monday (Sept. 21) and earned their first sweep of the season in a dominant showing over MCCAA Eastern Conference foe Jackson College. With the sweep, the Monarchs moved their record to 4-8 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
The tone was set early by the Monarchs as the Blue and White cruised to a 25-7 first set victory. Momentum carried over for the remainder of the night as the Monarchs took set two, 25-16, before holding off a Jackson comeback bid in the third set to win, 25-21.
Monday's triumph marked the Monarchs' fourth consecutive victory over the Jets, a streak that dates back to Nov. 8, 2024, at the Great Lakes District B Tournament.
Alaina Kubiak had a breakout match for the Monarchs and tied her career-high in kills with 12 on a .391 hitting percentage. Ava Hunt tallied 11 kills via a .318 hitting percentage and added a team-high-tying three aces. Korin Hutton notched 30 assists and tied Hunt and Savanna Efthemiou with a team-best three aces.
As a team, the Monarchs' attack recorded a season-best .338 hitting percentage.
On the defensive end, Gisela Hanna led the way with eight digs as the team's libero, while Delaney Heflin added seven. Hunt and Madison Martin each recorded a block assist at the net. Martin was efficient again on the offensive side of the net, posting five kills on 10 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage.
