WARREN, Mich. – Macomb Volleyball bounced back in style Thursday (Oct. 21) with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-5, 25-19) sweep over the visiting Hawks of Henry Ford College behind a season-best 15 aces and a .346 team hitting percentage. The win elevates the Monarchs to 14-10 overall and 8-3 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference.
Henry Ford fell to 2-20 overall and 1-10 in the MCCAA East after getting swept by the Monarchs Thursday evening.
Ja'Nae Davis (Grand Rapids, Mich./Godwin Heights) was on fire throughout the match, posting an incredible .846 hitting percentage with 11 kills (no errors) on 13 attack attempts. The Grand Rapids product added a solo block and a pair of block assists as part of a dominant night at the net. Natalie Husson (Marysville, Mich./Marysville) and Erika Knieper (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) checked in with seven kills each, while Haley Link (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North) added four kills on eight attack attempts.
Reigning and two-time MCCAA Eastern Conference Player of the Week, Khloee Stoll (Macomb, Mich./Anchor Bay), led a balanced defensive effort with 15 digs, while Juliana Bollini (Washington, Mich./Romeo) and Emily Langlois (Macomb, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) followed with 12 and 10 digs, respectively. Langlois added 24 assists and led the Monarchs ace parade with six to bring her season total to a team-leading 37 aces through 24 matches.
Following Langlois was Juliana Bollini, Ja'Nae Davis and Kara Lewicki (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North) with three aces each. Samantha Olson (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II) recorded four digs as part of a total team effort in the 3-0 sweep.
SCHEDULE UPDATE
The Monarchs will no longer play in this weekend's tri-match at Rochester University. The next match is the final home match and final regular season match of the season on Tuesday (Oct. 26) against SC4. The match will also be the team's Sophomore Night as they honor all the student-athletes who will be moving on to four-year schools or other endeavors following this season. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.
