SOPHOMORES HONORED AS REGULAR SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE

WARREN, Mich. – Macomb Volleyball fought hard during an emotional Sophomore Night, but ultimately fell in three competitive sets to the visiting Skippers of St. Clair County Community College by a 3-0 final (20-25, 30-32, 19-25) on Tuesday (Oct. 26) in Warren. With Tuesday's loss, the Monarchs finish the regular season 14-11 overall and 8-4 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference, a record that locks the Blue & White into fourth place in the league ahead of next week's NJCAA Region XII District A Tournament.

The Skippers, now at 18-15 overall and 8-3 in league action, moved ahead of the Monarchs in the MCCAA East with the victory.

The NJCAA Region XII District A Tournament will be held Nov. 4-6 on the campus of SC4 in Port Huron. By finishing fourth in the MCCAA East, the Monarchs will play the conference's third place team to kick off the tournament Thursday (Nov. 4) at 2:00 p.m. The Monarchs' opponent, either Oakland Community College or St. Clair County Community College, will be determined following the Raiders and Skippers match Thursday (Oct. 28) evening. As for Tuesday's match, the Monarchs were led by Juliana Bollini (Washington, Mich./Romeo) and Khloee Stoll (Macomb, Mich./Anchor Bay) with 26 digs each, while Ja'Nae Davis (Grand Rapids, Mich./Godwin Heights) paced the action at the net with 11 kills and only one error on 27 attempts. Kara Lewicki (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North) followed with eight kills, two ahead of Natalie Husson (Marysville, Mich./Marysville) and Erika Knieper (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) who checked in with six kills each.

Prior to the match, the athletic department and volleyball coaching staff honored the careers of the Monarchs who will be moving on after this season with a Sophomore Night Ceremony. The Monarchs honored were: Juliana BolliniJa'Nae DavisErika KnieperEmily LangloisSamantha OlsonHaley Link, and Kara Lewicki.
