MEN'S BASKETBALL POSTS SEASON-HIGH 112 POINTS IN WIN

WARREN, Mich. – Macomb Men's Basketball continued to roll early in the 2021-22 season and improved to 5-0 with a 112-76 home victory over the Rochester University Warriors JV on Tuesday (Nov. 16). The 112 points scored is a season-high for head coach Hassan Nizam's Monarchs and marked the most points scored by the program since Feb. 26, 2020, when the Blue & White poured in 117 in a win over Alpena.

After a barrage of Rochester triples early, the Monarchs settled in and quickly took over Tuesday's game by once again winning the battle in points off turnovers. The Monarchs were able to frustrate the visiting Warriors into several key first half turnovers to eventually take a commanding 63-41 lead into the halftime break.

The 63-point first half total was 15 better than the Monarchs' previous best this season of 48 scored in the opening stanza against Siena Heights JV last week.

Second half action saw the Monarchs continue to pour it on as the lead grew behind 10 combined 3-pointers.

The Monarchs earned the 36-point victory behind balanced scoring, led by John Ukomadu (Southfield, Mich./Vincennes) with 19 points and Elijah Belle (Detroit, Mich./Davenport) with 18 points (15 in the first half). Johnson and Peoples followed with 15 points on five 3-pointers each, while Trae Ruggles (Grass Lake, Mich./Grass Lake) poured in a season-best 12 points.

Jiovanni Miles (Novi, Mich./Wisconsin-Green Bay) rounded out the top scorers with 11 points, 10 of which came in the Monarchs' 63-point first half.
