PORT HURON, Mich. – A historic season full of firsts for third-year head coach Lauren "Doogie" Duquette and the Monarchs came to a close on Friday (Nov. 5) at the Region XII Great Lakes A Tournament. The Monarchs finish the season with a 15-13 record, the most wins in Coach Doogie's three years at the helm and the most wins by the program since the 2011 season.
MATCH ONE: Macomb 3, Edison State 2
The Monarchs staved off elimination in the first match, defeating Edison State Community College in five sets behind a career effort out of Erika Knieper (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville). The sophomore transfer put together an unbelievable match, recording a career-high 23 kills to go along with 15 digs to help will the Monarchs to victory. Following Knieper was reigning All-Region selection, Kara Lewicki (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North), with a double-double of 12 kills and 12 digs.
Khloee Stoll (Macomb, Mich./Anchor Bay) posted an impressive 40 digs and Juliana Bollini (Washington, Mich./Romeo) recorded 18 digs, while Emily Langlois (Macomb, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) notched 37 assists and 12 digs.
MATCH TWO: SC4 3, Macomb 2
As for the latter contest of the day, stats for the season-ending, five-set loss to SC4 were not available at the time of this release.
