WARREN, Mich. – Macomb Men's Basketball bounced back from their lone loss of the season in style Wednesday (Dec. 1) with a 92-50 home win over Kellogg Community College. The win lifts the Monarchs to 7-1 on the season. The Bruins of Kellogg CC drop to 0-3 after the setback in Warren.
The Monarchs jumped out to a 9-2 lead and never looked back, working their way to a 52-22 halftime lead before winning the non-conference tilt by 42 points. The 92-point offensive outburst was a product of 57.7% shooting from the floor (65.7% in the first half), a commanding 58-20 advantage in points in the paint and a 20-2 edge in fast break points.
Reigning MCCAA Eastern Conference Player of the Week Jiovanni Miles (Novi, Mich./Wisconsin-Green Bay) continued to impress and led six Monarchs in double figures with 16 points on an ultra-efficient 7-of-8 shooting performance. John Ukomadu (Southfield, Mich./Vincennes) checked in just behind Miles with 15 points (7-of-12 shooting) and added six rebounds, a team-best four steals and three assists in only 18 minutes of work.
Dante Hudgins (Warren, Mich./Lincoln) dropped in a season-high 11 points and was equaled by Tariq Humes (Farmington, Mich./Elevation Prep) and Donivan Peoples (Detroit, Mich./Paris TX) with 11 points each, while Elijah Belle (Detroit, Mich./Davenport) notched 10 points in 18 minutes. Jaylen Daughtery (Detroit, Mich./Mott) ripped down a team-high nine rebounds to round the top performers.
