WARREN, Mich. – Macomb Women's Basketball saw their four-game winning streak come to an end Thursday (Dec. 9) with a 66-44 home setback to the undefeated (7-0) Siena Heights Saints JV. With the loss, the Monarchs move to 5-4 on the season – the team started 1-3 before winning four consecutive games prior to tonight's contest.
Down 28-20 at the half, the Monarchs were able to stay within two possessions for much of the third quarter before the Saints pulled away behind timely shooting to earn the victory. The Monarchs had an unlucky night from the floor, shooting 23.9% (10% from 3-point territory) compared to the Saints 40.3% clip (47.1% from 3-point land).
DeBraya Edwards (Detroit, Mich./Oakland CC) led all scorers with 24 points – tying a season-high – and added 10 rebounds for another hard-earned double-double. Edwards, who now has five double-doubles on the season, added three steals and a pair of blocks in 32 minutes of action Thursday night. Amy Jackson (Flat Rock, Mich./Flat Rock) followed with 10 points, eight rebounds and a game-high four steals, while Chante Hudgins (Warren, Mich./Lincoln) and Imani McGlown (Clinton Twp., Mich./L'Anse Creuse) pulled down six rebounds each.
