DEARBORN, Mich. – Macomb Volleyball matched the program's best start since the 2014 season with a 3-0 road sweep over Henry Ford on Tuesday (Sept. 28) in Dearborn. The sweep, coming by set scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-12, lifted the Monarchs' record to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference and sent the host Henry Ford Hawks to 0-14 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
At 7-4 overall, the Monarchs eclipsed their win total from the previous (pandemic shortened) season where they finished with a 6-7 record.
On Tuesday, the Monarchs raced out to a 6-1 lead in the first set and used the early momentum to cruise to their third conference victory of 2021. The Hawks fought hard, but ultimately it was the Monarchs night as the Blue & White erased an early deficit in set two to secure their fourth sweep in 11 matches this season.
Emily Langlois (Macomb, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) led all Monarchs with 20 assists and six aces, and also added seven digs as part of a impressive night on the court. The six-ace effort was a season-high for Langlois and was one shy of the setter's career-best mark of seven aces set against the same opponent, Henry Ford, on Feb. 26, 2021.
Kara Lewicki (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North) paced a balanced attack at the net for the Monarchs with eight kills and added 14 digs to continue her stellar campaign. Ja'Nae Davis (Grand Rapids, Mich./Godwin Heights) was next with seven kills, doing so while committing no errors. Davis added an ace and a solo block to her seven-kill performance, while Erika Knieper (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) checked in with six kills to round out the leaders at the net.
Defensively, Khloee Stoll (Macomb, Mich./Anchor Bay) once again led the way with 19 digs and was followed by Juliana Bollini (Washington, Mich./Romeo) who racked up 11 digs and three aces in the conference sweep.
The Monarchs return home Thursday (Sept. 30) for a non-conference match against Madonna JV. First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m. with live stream coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. on www.MacombMonarchs.com/Watch.
