JACKSON, Mich. – Natalie Husson set a new career-high with eight blocks and
Riley Fisette and
Haile Polisano combined for 19 kills in a hard-fought four set loss at Jackson on Monday (Oct. 24). The host Jets topped the Monarchs behind set scores of 19-25, 20-25, 25-20 and 20-25.
The loss brings the Monarchs record to 5-13 overall and 1-10 in the MCCAA East with one match remaining in the 2022 season. The Jets elevated their record to 6-13 overall and 2-9 in the MCCAA East.
The Monarchs attempted to climb out of an 0-2 hole and won the third set, 25-20, behind a 14-kill effort in the frame. In the fourth set, the Monarchs continued their strong play with 11 kills on 27 attempts but ultimately it was the Jets who prevailed by a set score of 25-20 to win the match.
Husson's (Marysville, Mich./Marysville) eight blocks and 27 digs by
Khloee Stoll (Macomb, Mich./Anchor Bay) paced the Monarchs defensively, while Fisette (Chesterfield, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) and Polisano (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay) led the attack with 10 kills and nine kills, respectively. Polisano was active all over the court as the freshman also posted a new career-high in digs with 17 on the night.
Chante Hudgins (Warren, Mich./Lincoln) added six kills and three blocks, while
Becca Weiss (Dryden, Mich./Dryden) was two assists shy of tying her career-best mark after tallying 19 in Monday's road tilt.
The Monarchs will host Sophomore Night Wednesday (Oct. 26) when they host the Skippers of SC4. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. with Sophomore Night recognition occurring just before the match.
