VINCENNES, Ind. – The No. 5 Monarchs wrapped up play at the Vincennes McDonald's Classic with their second game opposite a NJCAA D1 Top-25 program in as many days when they battled the D1 No. 13 John A. Logan Vols Saturday (Nov. 12). The Vols, a team boasting four NCAA D1 transfers and several more on the roster with D1 offers, earned a 94-75 win over the Monarchs behind 60% shooting overall and a 52.6% mark from behind the three-point line.
With the setback, the Monarchs fall to 4-2 on the season with both losses coming to NJCAA D1 Top-25 teams.
Offensively, the Monarchs countered the Vols strong shooting performance with a 42.3% effort from three-point land (11-of-26), led by three triples each from
Aidan Rubio (Flint, Mich./Goodrich/DME Academy) and
Cameron McEvans (Southfield, Mich./Southfield A&T).
Rubio posted a team-high 14 points (3-of-8 3PM) to lead four in double figures, while McEvans shot 3-of-6 from deep for 11 points on the afternoon. Rubio added four rebounds, two assists and a pair of blocks in just over 22 minutes of action.
Kareem Aburashed (West Bloomfield, Mich./Detroit Country Day) and
Tamario Adley (Detroit, Mich./De La Salle) tallied 12 points each and combined for seven rebounds and four steals.
The Monarchs are back on their home floor Tuesday (Nov. 15) when they welcome the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton (OH) to Warren for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. Live stream:
