WARREN, Mich. – After suffering a pair of narrow setbacks on the road Saturday, Macomb Baseball hosted the Lansing Community College Stars for the final two games of their four-game conference series Sunday (April 3) in Warren. Unfortunately, Sunday wasn't kind to the Monarchs as the Blue & White dropped game one, 8-2, before being topped in the series finale 12-2 in six innings.
With Sunday's setbacks, the Monarchs end the day with a 2-16 record overall and a 1-6 mark in the MCCAA East. The Stars continued their recent winning ways to improve to 14-5 overall and 8-0 in league play.
GAME ONE: Lansing 8, Macomb 2
The Stars separated from the Monarchs with a five-run sixth inning in a hard-fought battle in game one. Offensively, the Monarchs couldn't string together the hits needed to keep up with the Stars late. In all, the Monarchs posted five hits and were led by
Harrison Ryan (Macomb, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) who went 2-for-3 (double, RBI).
On the mound,
Gavin Nareski (Fenton, Mich./Holly/Kankakee CC) got the nod and went five strong innings for the Monarchs. Nareski only allowed one earned run while striking out four and scattering four hits to post his best outing in a Monarch uniform.
GAME TWO: Lansing 12, Macomb 2
Jeremy Pudlik (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Mott) posted a team-best two hits, while
Adam Amodei (Mt. Clemens, Mich./Chippewa Valley) and
Brady Zabawa (Commerce, Mich./Milford) recorded an RBI each for the Monarchs in their game two setback.
Harrison Ryan and
Logan Rybarczyk (Chesterfield, Mich./Anchor Bay) had a hit each to round out the top performances in the nightcap.
UP NEXT: at Davenport JV Tuesday (April 5)
The Monarchs travel to Grand Rapids Tuesday (April 5) to take on Davenport University's JV squad. Following the Davenport twin bill, the Monarchs will return to conference play over the weekend with a four-game set opposite Delta College.
